Narrative

Dr Batchelor has over 19 years experience of overseas work. He operates as a consultant in a number of technical fields, (energy, agricultural systems & rural water supply with special technical reference to the use of windpumps), and non-technical subjects such as management, evaluation and community participation. Dr Batchelor has taught on international short courses, spoken and published at conferences, and has a number of engineering products to his credit which are currently in commercial production. In the early 1990’s he spent three years in Cambodia, planning and managing an integrated community development programme.

Dr Batchelor has a record of innovation both in technology and participatory techniques. Trainings are conducted with participant led agendas. He has recently undertaken a number of assignments regarding distant learning and has explored the use of the new medias for open learning. Regarding management:- he has been general manager of an engineering company in Kenya, a general manager and then managing director of a consulting company, managing director of a specialised consulting company, and country director of an NGO field operation in Cambodia. He has also undertaken management consultancies in the UK.
